Spling has been presenting Talking Movies on Fine Music Radio for over 7 years. The movie reviewer has a history of radio broadcast appearances, featuring on recurring shows on Radio 702/CapeTalk, Chai FM, 2Oceansvibe Radio, UCT Radio and Fine Music Radio with interviews on CCFM, East Coast Radio, Assembly Radio and BBC 5 Live.

While Talking Movies is published as a podcast at splingmovies.com on a weekly basis, Spling has broadened his podcasting to include Must Love Movies, The Three Wells of Screenwriting and now Confessions of a Movie Critic.

Must Love Movies sees Spling interviewing a guest as part of a private screening. The first two podcasts were recorded at the 12 Apostles Hotel, which has its own screening room, allowing Spling to do a one-on-one exploration of his guest’s favourite movies and film memories.

In The Three Wells of Screenwriting podcast, Spling serves as a host, facilitating the show with author Matthew Kalil interviewing screenwriters and authors on the principles belying his inspirational screenwriting book.

His latest podcast series, Confessions of a Movie Critic, is probably his most intimate and raw podcast. Recording in one take without a script, he uses this podcast to explore films, news and other movie-related content in a candid and conversational fashion. This is Spling’s chance to go deeper into reviews, unpacking films or exploring ideas that would otherwise be constrained by the written word or outlet guidelines.

Check out the Confessions of a Movie Critic page or listen to the latest podcast about the local horror film and rite of passage, Rage.
